Why Very Truly Yours?
Dear reader,
I wanted to start Very Truly Yours to document the transformation of my friends and me through our twenties. After graduating high school, we all began journeys on very different paths pursuing our vast and all-encompassing interests: art, film, theater, sports, business, Jesus, politics, and physics. While we had a wide range of passions, we were all tied together by our love of being annoying and discussing the nuances of life, from movies to the traumas we experienced growing up.
We have always kept in touch, texting or scheduling Google meets to talk weekly. Conversations turn from a one-hour scheduled call to a 3-hour discussion of our lives and the current events on our minds. And even though we all live drastically different lives, it feels as though we are able to connect and add so much to each conversation, no matter the circumstances.
I wanted to document these thoughts and conversations because I know these women will influence my life decisions for better or for worse for years to come. I hope to create a place where we can freely discuss our lives and interests as we begin to grow so that years from now, we can reflect on all the moments that pushed us forward.
I also hope that by all of my friends and me sharing our lives, we may be able to encourage others to feel like they are less alone. And that you don’t have to have it all figured out. You can have a different opinion. Life can be unexpected, things can be beautiful, and it’s okay to be a complete mess. And if you ever need a friend, you know someone is just a text away. I hope that by sharing little portions of our lives through blog posts, they might feel like little love letters, just like our Google Meet calls.
I can’t wait to see where this blog leads us, even if it’s just for us to hold on to the memories. So here’s to Very Truly Yours.
Very Truly Yours,
Grace McCraw
